As parents and caregivers, it is our responsibility and privilege to help shape children's ever growing character. Laying this foundation will carry them into the world as kind, compassionate, and humble people. Now more than ever, we feel the weight of the world and our need for kind human beings, both big and small.
Dear Friend is not a book about racism, rather it is an activity book about how to be a bridge and an ally. If racism is an unfamiliar subject in your home, we recommend you start with that conversation first. Dear Friend provides a short book list to help introduce and explain this topic. There are wonderful books and resources out there that help explain racism and injustice to young children.
To add to the collection, we’ve created a coloring/activity book to help young ones understand and practice the concept of allyship. Written from a minority child’s point of view, this activity book shares five ways your learner can become an ally with prompts to color and draw various ways to come alongside them as a true friend. A practical, easy to understand, and gentle introduction to the concept of allyship, this coloring book was created for children and adults alike.
